90100.  The California Maritime Academy, a specialized institution,is part of the California State University. The primary mission ofthe academy is to provide instruction in the maritime sciences,engineering, and related fields, including all those necessary toprovide the highest quality licensed officers for the United StatesMerchant Marine and California maritime industries. The trustees mayrequire students to qualify for United States Merchant Marinelicenses as a condition of earning a degree.
