SECTION 15550-15551
15550.  The records and supplies of any election when received bythe elections official shall be disposed of in the manner set forthin this chapter.15551.  If a contest or any such criminal prosecution has beencommenced prior to the date fixed for its destruction, the packagecontaining the voted ballots shall be subject to the order of thecourt in which the contest or criminal prosecution is pending andshall not be destroyed until after final determination of the contestor criminal prosecution. In the case of a congressional election contest, the electionsofficial shall hold the ballots of that congressional district incustody subject to the inspection of any committee of the House ofRepresentatives having in charge the investigation of the contest,until the final determination of the contest by the House ofRepresentatives. In the case of a contest in the State Legislature, the electionsofficial shall hold the ballots of the Senate or Assembly district incustody subject to the inspection of any committee of the Senate orAssembly having in charge the investigation of the contest until thefinal determination of the contest or the final adjournment of thesession of the Legislature in which the contest is filed, whicheveris the later. In no event shall the package or its contents be taken from thecustody of the elections official.
