STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CODE
SECTION 19400-19402



19400.  From federal funds available for promoting public safety on
the streets, the department may allocate to cities, cities and
counties, and counties up to 50 percent of the cost of constructing,
repairing, or improving street lighting facilities or up to 50
percent of the cost of contracting for street lighting services.




19401.  In allocating funds for such purposes, the department shall
give priority to those cities, cities and counties, and counties
which submit in their requests for such funds the most convincing
evidence that the proposed construction, repair, or improvement of
street lighting facilities will aid in the reduction of the crime
rate in the proposed lighted area.



19402.  The department shall adopt such rules and regulations as are
necessary to implement the provisions of this part.
