Article 23.--REVISED KANSAS JUVENILE JUSTICE CODE

      38-2307.   Court-appointed special advocate; immunityfrom liability; supreme court rules.(a) In addition to the attorney appointed pursuant toK.S.A. 2009 Supp.38-2306,and amendmentsthereto, the court at any stage of a proceeding pursuant to this code mayappoint a volunteercourt-appointed special advocate for a juvenile who shall serve untildischarged by the court andwhose primary duties shall be to advocate the best interests of the juvenileand assist thejuvenile in obtaining a permanent, safe and appropriate placement. Thecourt-appointed specialadvocate shall have such qualifications and perform such specific duties andresponsibilities asprescribed by rule of the supreme court.

      (b)   Any person participating in a judicial proceeding as a court-appointedspecial advocate shallbe presumed prima facie to be acting in good faith and in so doing shall beimmune from anycivil liability that otherwise might be incurred or imposed.

      (c)   The supreme court shall promulgate rules governing court-appointedspecial advocateprograms related to proceedings in the district courts pursuant to this code.
