Page 1 of 2 198B.200 Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Committee -- Membership -- Duties. (1) There is hereby created the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Committee, which shall be attached to the Department of Housing, Buildings and <br>Construction for administrative purposes. (2) The committee shall be composed of eight (8) members as follows: (a) Three (3) members who shall be home builders appointed by the Governor from a list of six (6) nominees submitted by the Home Builders Association of <br>Kentucky. Each nominee shall have been actively engaged in the home <br>building business for not less than five (5) years immediately preceding the <br>date of his or her appointment to the committee; (b) Three (3) members who shall be certified code inspectors appointed by the Governor from a list of six (6) nominees submitted by the Code <br>Administrators Association of Kentucky. Each nominee shall have been <br>actively engaged as a certified code inspector for not less than five (5) years <br>immediately preceding the date of his or her appointment to the committee; (c) One (1) member who shall be an architect appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3) nominees submitted by the Kentucky Chapter of the American <br>Society of Architects. Each nominee shall have been actively engaged as a <br>licensed architect for not less than five (5) years immediately preceding the <br>date of his or her appointment to the committee; and (d) The commissioner of the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, or his or her designee. (3) Each member of the committee shall be a citizen and resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. (4) (a) Appointed members shall serve staggered terms of three (3) years that shall expire on June 30 of the final year of the term, except that, of the initial <br>appointments, three (3) members shall serve for a term of three (3) years, two <br>(2) members shall serve for a term of two (2) years, and two (2) members <br>shall serve for a term of one (1) year. (b) The commissioner of the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction shall serve on the committee for the duration of his or her term of appointment <br>to that state government position. (c) No member shall serve more than two (2) consecutive terms. <br>(d) Members may serve until their successors are appointed and qualified. <br>(e) A vacancy in an unexpired term shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment. (5) The commissioner of the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, or his or her designee, shall serve as chair of the committee. (6) A majority of the members of the committee shall constitute a quorum for conducting business. Page 2 of 2 (7) The committee shall meet at least once each calendar quarter in a location designated by the chair. The committee may meet upon special call by the chair or <br>by a majority of the committee. (8) Each appointed member listed in subsection (2)(a), (b), and (c) of this section shall receive twenty-five ($25) dollars per diem for attending each meeting and shall be <br>reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of his or <br>her official duties. The commissioner of the Department of Housing, Buildings and <br>Construction shall not be eligible for a per diem. (9) The duties of the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Committee shall be to: <br>(a) Review and interpret the International Building Code and make recommendations to the Kentucky Board of Housing, Buildings and <br>Construction as to which elements of the international code should be <br>incorporated into the Kentucky State Residential Building Code; and (b) Perform any other duties and responsibilities relating to the topic of single family dwellings that may be assigned by the Kentucky Board of Housing, <br>Buildings and Construction.
