23-1213.01. Guidelines to promote uniformand quality death investigations for county coroners; contents.The council shall, withrespect to ensuring quality and uniform death investigation processes throughoutthe state, develop guidelines to promote uniform and quality death investigationsfor county coroners. Such guidelines may include guidance to the county coronerin:(1) Determining the needfor autopsies involving:(a) Deaths of individualsnineteen years of age or older;(b) Deaths of individualsunder nineteen years of age;(c) Sudden, unexplainedinfant deaths;(d) Deaths while in custody;(e) Deaths caused bymotor vehicle collisions;(f) Deaths by burning;and(g) Suspicious deaths;(2) The utilization ofinvestigative tools and equipment;(3) Entering the deathscene;(4) Documenting and evaluatingthe death scene;(5) Documenting and evaluatingthe body;(6) Establishing andrecording decedent profile information; and(7) Completing the deathscene investigation.Persons investigatinginfant deaths and young child deaths may also refer to the recommendationsadopted by the Attorney General with respect to such investigations.
