54-702. Voluntary national uniform system of animal identification; department; powers.The Department of Agriculture may, within the framework and consistent with standards of the National Animal Identification System, cooperate and coordinate with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture and other local, state, and national agencies and organizations, public or private, to define premises where livestock are located, to develop a voluntary premises registration system for Nebraska, and to implement other state components of a voluntary national uniform system of animal identification. If the department implements such a system, the department shall also develop and facilitate a process of withdrawal of registration that would remove premises identifiers from its data base. Written confirmation shall be sent upon withdrawal of registration from the department's data base.
