§ 106‑284.35. Labeling.

A commercial feed shall be labeled as follows:

(1)        In case of commercial feed, except a customer‑formulafeed, it shall be accompanied by a label bearing the following information:

a.         The net weight.

b.         The product name and the brand name, if any, under which thecommercial feed is distributed.

c.         The guaranteed analysis stated in such terms as the Board byregulation determines is required to advise the users of the composition of thefeed or to support claims made in the labeling. In all cases the substances orelements must be determinable by laboratory methods such as the methodspublished by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists.

d.         The common or usual name of each ingredient used in themanufacture of the commercial feed: Provided, that the Board by regulation maypermit the use of collective terms for a group of ingredients which perform asimilar function, or the Board may exempt such commercial feeds, or any groupthereof, from this requirement of an ingredient statement if it finds that suchstatement is not required in the interest of consumers.

e.         The name and principal mailing address of the manufactureror the person distributing the commercial feed.

f.          Adequate directions for use for all commercial feeds containingdrugs and for such other feeds as the Board may require by regulations asnecessary for their safe and effective use.

g.         Such precautionary statements as the Board by regulationdetermines are necessary for the safe and effective use of the commercial feed.

(2)        In the case of a customer‑formula feed, it shall beaccompanied by a label, invoice, delivery slip, or other shipping document tobe presented to the purchaser at time of delivery, bearing the followinginformation:

a.         Name and address of the manufacturer.

b.         Name and address of the purchaser.

c.         Date of delivery.

d.         The product name and brand name, if any, and the net weightof each registered commercial feed used in the mixture, and the net weight ofeach other ingredient used.

e.         Adequate directions for use for all customer‑formulafeeds containing drugs and for such other feeds as the Board may require byregulation as necessary for their safe and effective use.

f.          Such precautionary statements as the Board by regulationdetermines are necessary for the safe and effective use of the customer‑formulafeed. (1973, c. 771, s. 6.)
