§ 106‑529.  StateMarketing Authority created; members and officers; commodity advisers; meetingsand expenses.

To secure these aims, there is hereby created an incorporated publicagency of the State, to be known as the State Marketing Authority, hereinafterreferred to as the "Authority." It shall consist of the members ofthe State Board of Agriculture, and the Commissioner of Agriculture shall bethe chairman. They shall perform the duties and exercise the powers herein setout as a part of their official duties as members of the Board of Agriculture.The Governor shall appoint from time to time commodity advisers to plan withthe Authority the programs undertaken in their respective communities. TheAuthority shall elect and prescribe the duties of a secretary‑treasurer,who shall not be a member of the Authority. He shall give bond in such amountas the Authority shall determine in some reliable surety company doing businessin North Carolina, and the Authority shall pay the premiums. The Authority shallmeet in regular session annually at a fixed place and date, and shall meet inspecial session at such other times and places as the chairman may request. Themembers shall receive no salary, but shall receive actual expenses plus sevendollars ($7.00) per day for actual time spent in performing their duties. (1941, c. 39, s. 2.)
