§ 106‑549.52. State and federal cooperation.

(a)        The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services ishereby designated as the State agency which shall be responsible forcooperating with the Secretary of Agriculture of the United States under theprovisions of section 5 of the Federal Poultry Products Inspection Act and suchagency is directed to cooperate with the Secretary of Agriculture of the UnitedStates in developing and administering the poultry products inspection programof this State under this Article and in developing and administering theprogram of this State under G.S. 106‑549.58 in such a manner as willeffectuate the purposes of this Article and said federal act.

(b)        In such cooperative efforts, the Department is authorized toaccept from said Secretary advisory assistance in planning and otherwisedeveloping the State program, technical and laboratory assistance and training(including necessary curricular and instructional materials and equipment), andfinancial and other aid for administration of such a program.

(c)        The Department is further authorized to recommend to theSecretary of Agriculture such officials or employees of this State as theCommissioner shall designate, for appointment to the advisory committeesprovided for in section 5 of the Federal Poultry Products Inspection Act; andthe Commissioner shall serve as the representative of the Governor forconsultation with said Secretary under subsection (c) of section 5 of said act.(1971, c. 677, s. 5; 1985(Reg.
