During periods of hazardous forest fire conditions or during airpollution episodes declared pursuant to Article 21B of Chapter 143 of theGeneral Statutes, the secretary is authorized to prohibit all open burningregardless of whether a permit is required under G.S. 113‑60.23 or 113‑60.24.The secretary shall issue a press release containing relevant details of theprohibition to news media serving the area affected.
