§122C‑293.  Release by area authority or physician.

The area authority orphysician as designated in the order shall discharge a committed respondentunconditionally at any time he determines that the respondent no longer meetsthe criteria of G.S. 122C‑283(d)(1). Notice of discharge and the reasonsfor the release shall be reported in writing to the clerk of superior court ofthe county in which the commitment was ordered.
