§ 127A‑192. Definitions.

(a)        Academic Year. – Anyperiod of 365 days beginning with the first day of enrollment for a course ofinstruction.

(a1)      Business or TradeSchool. – Any school within the State of North Carolina which is licensed bythe State Board of Education and listed by that Board as an approved privatebusiness school or an approved private trade school.

(b)        Private EducationalInstitutions. – Any junior college, senior college or university which isoperated and governed by private interests not under the control of thefederal, State or any local government, which is located within and licensed bythe State of North Carolina, which does not operate for profit, whosecurriculum is primarily directed toward the awarding of associate, baccalaureateor graduate degrees, which agrees to the applicable administration and fundingprovisions of this Article.

(c)        Secretary. – TheSecretary of Crime Control and Public Safety or his or her designee.

(d)        State EducationalInstitutions. – Any of the constituent institutions of the University of NorthCarolina, or any community college operated under the provisions of Chapter115D of the General Statutes of North Carolina.

(e)        Repealed by SessionLaws 2008‑94, s. 2, effective July 1, 2008.

(f)         Student Loan. – Aloan or loans made to eligible students or parents of students to aid inattaining an education beyond the high school level.  (1975, c. 917, s. 4; 1977,c. 70, s. 2; c. 228, s. 1; 1987, c. 564, s. 24; 2008‑94, s. 2.)
