§ 130A‑412.7.  Manner ofmaking anatomical gift before donor's death.

(a)        A donor may make ananatomical gift by any of the following methods:

(1)        By authorizing thata statement or symbol be imprinted on the donor's drivers license oridentification card indicating that the donor has made an anatomical gift.Anatomical gifts made by this method shall not include a donation of tissue orthe donor's body.

(2)        In a will.

(3)        During a terminalillness or injury of the donor, by any form of communication addressed to atleast two adults, at least one of whom is a disinterested witness.

(4)        As provided insubsection (b) of this section.

(b)        A donor or otherperson authorized to make an anatomical gift under G.S. 130A‑412.6 maymake a gift by a signed donor card or other record signed by the donor or otherperson making the gift or by authorizing that a statement or symbol indicatingthat the donor has made an anatomical gift be included on a donor registry. Ifthe donor or other person is physically unable to sign a record, the record maybe signed by another individual at the direction of the donor or other personand must:

(1)        Be witnessed by atleast two adults, at least one of whom is a disinterested witness, who havesigned at the request of the donor or the other person; and

(2)        State that it hasbeen signed and witnessed as provided in subdivision (1) of this subsection.

(c)        Revocation,suspension, expiration, or cancellation of a drivers license or identificationcard upon which an anatomical gift is indicated does not invalidate the gift.

(d)        An anatomical giftmade by will takes effect upon the donor's death whether or not the will isprobated. Invalidation of the will after the donor's death does not invalidatethe gift. (2007‑538,s. 1.)
