The State Treasurer isauthorized and empowered to select as many depositories in one place and in theState as may appear to him to be necessary and convenient for the variousofficers, representatives and employees of the State, to comply with thepurposes of G.S. 147‑77, 147‑78, 147‑80, 147‑81, 147‑82,147‑83 and 147‑84, and may make such contracts with saiddepositories for the payment of interest on average daily or monthly balancesas may appear advantageous to the State in the opinion of such Treasurer andthe Governor.
