§ 165‑18.  Rightsconferred.

(a)        Any person under the age of 18 years who is the husband orwife of a veteran, is hereby authorized and empowered in his or her own name,and without any order of court or the intervention of a guardian or trustee, toexecute any and all contracts, conveyances, and instruments, to take title toproperty, to defend any action at law, and to do all other acts necessary tomake fully available to such veteran, his or her family or dependents, allrights and benefits under the laws of the United States relating to veteransbenefits, in  as full and ample manner as if such minor husband or wife of suchveteran had attained the age of 18 years.

(b)        Any person under the age of 18 years, who is the husband orwife of a veteran, is hereby authorized and empowered in his or her own name,and without any order of court or the intervention of a guardian or trustee, tojoin in the execution of any contract, deed, conveyance or other instrumentwhich may be deemed necessary to enable his or her veteran spouse to make fulluse of any property purchased pursuant to the provisions of the foregoingsubsection, including the right to dispose of such property.

(c)        With respect to any action at law or special proceeding inrelation to any transaction within the purview of this Article, every minorperson to whom this Article applies shall appear and plead in his or her ownname and right without the intervention of any guardian or trustee; and everysuch minor person shall be considered a legal party to any such action at lawor special proceeding in all respects as if such person had attained the age of18 years. No such minor shall hereafter interpose the defense of lack of legalcapacity by reason of age in connection with any transaction within the purviewof this Article, nor disavow any such transaction upon coming of age.
