§49‑6.  Mother not excused on ground of self‑incrimination; notsubject to penalty.

No mother of an illegitimatechild shall be excused, on the ground that it may tend to incriminate her orsubject her to a penalty or a forfeiture, from attending and testifying, inobedience to a subpoena of any court, in any suit or proceeding based upon orgrowing out of the provisions of this Article, but no such mother shall beprosecuted or subjected to any penalty or forfeiture for or on account of anytransaction, matter, or thing as to which, in obedience to a subpoena and underoath, she may so testify.
