§58‑80‑45.  Rights and privileges of firemen; liability ofmunicipality.

When responding to a call andwhile working at a fire or other emergency outside the limits of themunicipality by which they are regularly employed or in volunteer fire service,all members of the State Volunteer Fire Department shall have the sameauthority, rights, privileges and immunities which are afforded them whileresponding to calls within their home municipality.  In permitting its firedepartment or equipment to attend an emergency or answer a call beyond themunicipal limits, whether under the terms of this Article or otherwise, amunicipality shall be deemed in exercise of a governmental function, and shallhold the privileges and immunities attendant upon the exercise of suchfunctions within its corporate limits. (1939, c. 364, s. 10.)
