§ 75A‑6.1.  Navigationrules.

(a)        Every vesseloperated on the waters of this State that is required to obtain anidentification number pursuant to this Chapter, has a valid marine documentissued by the federal Bureau of Customs or any federal agency successor to it,or issued pursuant to a federally approved numbering system of another stateshall comply with the navigation rules, including requirements for navigationallights, sound‑signaling devices, and other equipment, contained in theInland Navigational Rules Act of 1980, codified as amended at 33 U.S.C. §§ 2001‑2038,2071‑2073 (1993) and rules adopted pursuant thereto, see 33 C.F.R. Part84 (1992).

(b)        The Commission isresponsible for the enforcement of the rules specified in subsection (a) ofthis section. The rules specified in subsection (a) of this section are alsoenforceable by all peace officers with general subject matter jurisdiction.

(c)        Violation of thenavigation rules specified in subsection (a) of this section shall constitute aClass 3 misdemeanor and is punishable only by a fine not to exceed one hundreddollars ($100.00). (1993,c. 361, s. 1; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 14, s. 44; 2006‑185, s. 1.)
