§ 7A‑196.  Jurytrials.

(a)        In civil cases in the district court there shall be a rightto trial by a jury of 12 in conformity with Rules 38 and 39 of the Rules ofCivil Procedure.

(b)        In criminal cases there shall be no jury trials in thedistrict court. Upon appeal to superior court trial shall be de novo, with jurytrial as provided by law.

(c)        In adjudicatory hearings for infractions, there shall be noright to trial by jury in the district court. (1965, c. 310, s. 1; 1967, c. 954, s. 3; 1985, c. 764,s. 12; 1985 (Reg. Sess., 1986), c. 852, s. 17.)
