§ 7A‑796.  Local drugtreatment court management committee.

Each judicial districtchoosing to establish a drug treatment court shall form a local drug treatmentcourt management committee, which shall be comprised to assure representationappropriate to the type or types of drug treatment court operations to beconducted in the district and shall consist of persons appointed by the seniorresident superior court judge with the concurrence of the chief district courtjudge and the district attorney for that district, chosen from the followinglist:

(1)        A judge of thesuperior court;

(2)        A judge of thedistrict court;

(3)        A district attorneyor assistant district attorney;

(4)        A public defender orassistant public defender in judicial districts served by a public defender;

(5)        An attorneyrepresenting a county department of social services within the district;

(6)        A representative ofthe guardian ad litem;

(7)        A member of theprivate criminal defense bar;

(8)        A member of theprivate bar who represents respondents in department of social servicesjuvenile matters;

(9)        A clerk of superiorcourt;

(10)      The trial courtadministrator in judicial districts served by a trial court administrator;

(11)      The director ormember of the child welfare services division of a county department of socialservices within the district;

(12)      The chief juvenilecourt counselor for the district;

(13)      A probation officer;

(14)      A local lawenforcement officer;

(15)      A representative ofthe local school administrative unit;

(16)      A representative ofthe local community college;

(17)      A representative ofthe treatment providers;

(18)      A representative ofthe area mental health program;

(19)      Any local drugtreatment coordinator; and

(20)      Any other personsselected by the local management committee.

The local drug treatment courtmanagement committee shall develop local guidelines and procedures, notinconsistent with the State guidelines, that are necessary for the operationand evaluation of the local drug treatment court.  (1995, c. 507, s. 21.6(a);1998‑23, s. 9; 1998‑212, s. 16.15(a), (f); 2001‑424, s.22.8(e); 2008‑187, s. 4.)
