§ 8‑53.13.  Nurseprivilege.

No person licensed pursuant toArticle 9A of Chapter 90 of the General Statutes shall be required to discloseany information that may have been acquired in rendering professional nursingservices, and which information was necessary to enable that person to renderprofessional nursing services, except that the presiding judge of a superior ordistrict court may compel disclosure if, in the court's opinion, disclosure isnecessary to a proper administration of justice and disclosure is notprohibited by other statute or rule. Nothing in this section shall preclude theadmission of otherwise admissible written or printed medical records in anyjudicial proceeding, in accordance with the procedure set forth in G.S. 8‑44.1,after a determination by the court that disclosure should be compelled as setforth herein.
