§87‑84.  Findings and policy.

The General Assembly of NorthCarolina finds that improperly constructed, operated, maintained, or abandonedwells can adversely affect the public health and the groundwater resources ofthe State. Consistent with the duty to safeguard the public welfare, safety,health and to protect and beneficially develop the groundwater resources ofthis State, it is declared to be the policy of this State to require that thelocation, construction, repair, and abandonment of wells, and the installationof pumps and pumping equipment conform to such reasonable requirements as maybe necessary to protect the public welfare, safety, health and groundwaterresources. (1967, c. 1157, s. 2.)
