11-301. Discharge of patient capable of self-support; violation; classification

A. A person admitted to the hospital shall be permitted to remain there so long as he is sick or disabled or unable to earn a livelihood, and no longer. The contractor or superintendent shall discharge from the hospital every person as soon as he is restored to health and strength sufficient to support himself.

B. A contractor or person having charge of the hospital who knowingly permits a person to remain in the hospital at the expense of the county after he is restored to health and strength is guilty of a class 2 misdemeanor.
