41-1552.02. Commission findings; award of research and development grant; limitations; amount of funding

A. On receipt of a positive recommendation by the governor's Arizona science and technology council, the commission shall review the recommendation of the governor's science and technology council and approve or disapprove the grant. The commission shall notify the small business phase I award recipient that it qualifies for a grant subject to subsections B and C of this section and section 41-1552.04.

B. Any research and development grant shall be compatible with, and a continuation of, the research and development performed under the phase I SBIR or STTR contract awarded by the federal government.

C. The amount of the grant shall not exceed fifty thousand dollars. The commission shall not award more than twenty-five per cent of the total monies available for this program in any three month period and no more than five hundred thousand dollars in any fiscal year for all such awards. No more than two grants shall be awarded to one company in any twelve month period.
