SECTION 50740-50742



50740.  If by 5 p.m. on the 54th day prior to a general district
election the number of nominees does not exceed the number of
trustees to be elected and if a petition signed by 5 percent of the
voters requesting that the election be held has not been presented to
the board, an election shall not be held.



50741.  When no election is held pursuant to Section 50740 then the
board of supervisors shall appoint those nominated for the positions
of trustee, and if no person has been nominated for said position,
the board of supervisors shall appoint any qualified person or
persons. In lieu of the notice provided in Section 50732, notice
shall than be published only once stating that the board of
supervisors will appoint the trustees and that no election will be
held.


50742.  If pursuant to Section 50740 a district election is not
held, the board of supervisors of the county in which the district,
or the largest part thereof in area, is situated shall at its next
regular meeting appoint to the positions of trustees those persons
nominated, or if no persons have been nominated for said positions,
the board of supervisors shall appoint any qualified person or
persons, and such person or persons shall qualify, take office, and
serve exactly as if elected at a general district election.
