Article 26.--RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR JUSTICES AND JUDGES

      20-2601b.   Abolition of Kansas retirement fund for judges; transfer ofassets to Kansas public employees retirement fund; credit of contributions;authorizing transfer endorsements.(a) On July 1, 1975, the Kansas retirement fund for judges created byK.S.A. 20-2602 is hereby abolished and the state treasurer shall transferall moneys and other assets in said Kansas retirement fund for judges tothe Kansas public employees retirement fund created in K.S.A. 74-4921. Forthe purposes of all assets other than money, such transfer shall be at themarket value of such assets at the close of business on the date oftransfer, which shall be the bid price as quoted by a nationally recognizedgovernment bond dealer.

      (b)   On July 1, 1975, and as part of the transfer of moneys and otherassets of the Kansas retirement fund for judges to the Kansas publicemployees retirement fund, the individual accounts in the Kansas publicemployees retirement fund of members of the retirement system for judgesshall be credited with the contributions in their respective accounts inthe Kansas retirement fund for judges.

      (c)   On and after July 1, 1975, the board of trustees of the Kansaspublic employees retirement system may execute transfer endorsements forany stock or security which was transferred from the Kansas retirement fundfor judges to the Kansas public employees retirement fund pursuant tosubsection (a). Any such endorsement may be made either in the name of theKansas public employees retirement fund or in the name of the Kansasretirement fund for judges.

      (d)   On and after July 1, 1975, whenever the Kansas retirement fund forjudges, or words of like effect, is referred to or designated by a statuteor contract or other document, such reference or designation shall bedeemed to apply to the board of trustees of the Kansas public employeesretirement fund.
