Chapter 24.--DRAINAGE AND LEVEES
Article 4.--DRAINAGE DISTRICTS WITHIN COUNTIES OR CITIES

      24-465.   Same; notice of hearing.Whenever a petition in conformityto K.S.A. 24-464, and amendments thereto, signed by not lessthan 2/5 of the total number of taxpayers residingwithin both the original district and the territory named in thepetition or by all of the directors of any drainage district incorporatedpursuant to K.S.A. 24-401 et seq., and amendments thereto, ispresented to the board of county commissioners of thecounty designated in K.S.A. 24-463, andamendments thereto, praying that the limits of thedrainage district be extended to include within its boundaries theterritory described in the petition it shall be the duty forthwith of suchboard of county commissioners to fix a time for the hearing of suchpetition and to cause the county clerk to give notice thereof by onepublication in a newspaper of general circulation in thecounty at least 10 days before the day fixed for the hearing. Ifsuch petition is signed by anynumber in excess of 2/5 of the total number of taxpayersresiding within the territoryover which the extension is to be made, it shall not be necessary tofurnish a petition signed by the taxpayers residing within the originaldrainage district.
