Chapter 24.--DRAINAGE AND LEVEES
Article 5.--DRAINAGE IN VALLEY OF NATURAL WATERCOURSE

      24-506.   Board of directors, qualifications;term.(a) The board of directors of any drainage district incorporatedpursuant to K.S.A. 24-501 et seq., and amendments thereto, shall consist of oneperson from each county in the district if the number ofcounties is odd, but if the number of counties iseven, then there shall bean additional director at large. If the drainagedistrict is located wholly within one county,the number of directorsshall be three. Except as provided in subsection (b), the directorsshall be freeholders who shall be residentsof Kansas, whose lands in whole or in part are locatedwithin thedistrict. The directors shall hold their offices fora term of four years anduntil their successors are elected and qualified. Elections to choosedirectors, except the first, shall be held on the first Tuesday in Apriland every four years thereafter.

      (b)   If there are no residents in the drainage district, any owner of landwithin the district shall be a qualified voter and shall be qualified to holdthe office of director.
