Chapter 32.--WILDLIFE, PARKS AND RECREATION
Article 9.--LICENSES, PERMITS, STAMPS AND OTHER ISSUES

      32-920.   Hunter education requirements; adultsupervision of youths required, when; apprentice hunting license.(a) Except as provided by subsections (d) and (e), noperson whois born on orafterJuly 1, 1957, and is 16 or more years of age shall hunt in this state onland otherthan such person's own land unless the person has been issued a certificate ofcompletion of an approved hunter education course.If such person is requiredby law to obtain a hunting license, the person shall attest to or exhibit proofof completion of such course to the person issuing the license at the time ofpurchasing the license. If such person is not required by law to obtain ahunting license, is less than 27 years of age but 16 ormore years ofage or is less than 16 but 12 or more years of age and hunting without adultsupervision, the person shall be inpossession of the person's certificate of completion of such course whilehunting. A person may purchase for another person, under rules and regulationsadopted by the secretary in accordance with K.S.A. 32-805 and amendmentsthereto, a lifetime hunting or combination hunting and fishing license withoutthe license recipient's first having been issued a certificate of completion ofan approved hunter education course.

      (b)   A person less than 12 years of age shall not hunt unless under thedirectsupervision of an adult who is 18 or more years of age.

      (c)   A person who is 12 or more years of age but less than 16 years of ageand who has not been issued a certificate of completion of an approved huntereducation course shall not hunt unless under the direct supervision of an adultwho is 18 or more years of age.

      (d)   A person who is 16 or more years of age may obtain a one-timedeferral of completion of hunter education that is valid until the end of thecurrent license year. Such person may purchase an apprentice hunting licensebut shall not hunt unless under the direct supervision of a licensed adult whois 18 or more years of age.

      (e)   Completion of an approvedhunter educationcourse shall not berequired to obtain a special controlled shooting area hunting license validonly for licensed controlled shooting areas.
