Chapter 71.--SCHOOLS--COMMUNITY COLLEGES
Article 6.--STATE AID AND FISCAL PROVISIONS

      71-601.   Definitions; credit hour; full-timeequivalent enrollment; state grant.(a) "Credit hour" meansthe basic unit of collegiate level instruction, as determined by the stateboard, ina subject or course offered at a levelnot higher than those subjects or courses normally offered to freshmenand sophomores in four-year institutions of postsecondary educationwhich subject or course is approved by the state board. Credit hour doesnot include within its meaning instruction in a subjector course taken by astudent enrolled for audit or in any subject or course not approved by thestate board. The state board shall determine whether the subjects and coursesoffered in thecommunity colleges are at the level of freshmen and sophomoresubjects and courses offered in the state educational institutionsand shall not approve any subject or course offered at ahigher level.

      (b)   "Full-time equivalent enrollment" or "FTE enrollment" means thequotient obtained by dividing by 30 the total credit hour enrollment in afiscal year of students of a community college who are residents of the stateof Kansas, or are considered residents of the state of Kansas pursuant to theprovisions of K.S.A. 71-407, and amendments thereto.

      (c)   "State grant" means the operating grant provided for under subsection (a)of K.S.A. 71-620, and amendments thereto, and if entitlement isdetermined, thequality performance grant provided for under subsection (b) of K.S.A. 71-620,and amendments thereto.
