96.340 Punishment for damaging waterworks in fourth-class city -- Connections with pipes or mains. The legislative body of any city of the fourth class may, by ordinance, prescribe punishment by fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100) or imprisonment not exceeding sixty (60) days, of any person who molests, damages or interferes with any system of waterworks in the city, or may, by ordinance, impose the same penalty as for damaging or molesting any other public property. It may, subject to the rules of any water company that may establish a system, select persons who shall have the right to open, tap or make connection with pipes or mains in public ways of the city.
