96.340 Punishment for damaging waterworks in fourth-class city -- Connections with pipes or mains. The legislative body of any city of the fourth class may, by ordinance, prescribe <br>punishment by fine not exceeding one hundred dollars (&#36;100) or imprisonment not <br>exceeding sixty (60) days, of any person who molests, damages or interferes with any <br>system of waterworks in the city, or may, by ordinance, impose the same penalty as for <br>damaging or molesting any other public property. It may, subject to the rules of any water <br>company that may establish a system, select persons who shall have the right to open, tap <br>or make connection with pipes or mains in public ways of the city.
