148.029 Recreation areas designated wildlife sanctuaries -- Wildlife protected -- Permits for scientific collecting -- Duties of department. (1) All areas controlled by the Department of Parks and designated as camping, hiking, or other family-oriented recreation areas are designated wildlife sanctuaries for the <br>purpose of affording protection to the wildlife thereon as natural, integrated, <br>interrelated, ecological communities. (2) No unauthorized person shall enter a wildlife sanctuary and take, damage, injure, kill, destroy, or unduly disturb the wildlife therein except as provided in this <br>section. (3) The department may issue to any person a permit for the scientific collection of wildlife provided the applicant for such permit holds a current state scientific <br>collecting permit issued by the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. (4) This section does not apply to fish taken pursuant to KRS Chapter 150 and all rules and regulations promulgated by the Department of Parks and the Department of <br>Fish and Wildlife Resources. (5) The department may authorize the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to administer a wildlife management plan that may include the implementation of any <br>management method provided in KRS Chapter 150 in the course of operating and <br>administering the parks; and in so doing shall consider the ecological impact on the <br>sanctuary as a whole.
