186.052 License fee for driveaway operations -- Tags. (1) On or before January 1 of each year and as a condition precedent to the use of the highways, every motor carrier engaged in the driveaway business as defined by <br>KRS 281.014(4) shall pay to the Department of Vehicle Regulation an annual <br>license fee of two hundred fifty dollars (&#36;250) which shall be in lieu of the fee set <br>out in KRS 186.050. (2) In addition to the annual license fee imposed by subsection (1), each motor carrier operating as a driveaway shall procure from the Department of Vehicle Regulation a <br>license tag to be prominently displayed on each unit transported by this method. For <br>such license tag, the carrier shall pay to the department a fee of five dollars (&#36;5) <br>each. The said tag may be transferred from one transported unit to another for reuse.
