161.475 SNOW AND ICE CONTROL MATERIALS.

Subdivision 1.Use of agriculture-based deicing solution.

The commissioner of transportation shall use a deicing solution derived from agricultural products for snow and ice control on trunk highways to the extent that the commissioner determines is economically feasible, environmentally beneficial, and consistent with public safety.

Subd. 2.Effect on environment.

The commissioner, in determining which snow and ice control materials to use on trunk highways, shall consider the effect of each type of material on the environment and on the deterioration of bridges and other structures.
