Reactor animals may be retained, procedure.

267.220. Notwithstanding any provision in sections 267.170to 267.410, the department shall allow and permit the owner ofany animal found to be a reactor to retain the animal inquarantine and use the animal for breeding purposes in his ownherd if necessary or desirable in order to preserve valuablebreeding cattle; but, the permission shall not be granted if thestate veterinarian determines that the eradication program wouldbe adversely affected and permission shall not be granted unlessthe United States Department of Agriculture agrees thattuberculous* status will not be affected. The reactor animal maynot be sold, transferred or moved except on a special permitissued by the department.
