Use of unrecorded brands prohibited, exceptions, penalty.

268.071. It shall be unlawful to use any brand for brandingany horses, cattle, sheep, mules, or asses unless the brand hasbeen recorded as provided by sections 268.011 to 268.171. Hotbrands and cryo-brands, consisting of arabic numerals only, maybe used in conjunction with recorded brands for within-the-herdidentification and as such shall not be recorded; and when soused shall not be evidence of ownership. Anyone convicted ofviolating this section shall be fined a sum not to exceed onehundred dollars or be confined in the county jail for not toexceed thirty days.
