Missouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners' Association special licenseplate, application, fee.

301.3089. 1. Any person who is a member in good standing of theMissouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners' Association, after payment of anemblem-use authorization fee to the Missouri Coroners' and MedicalExaminers' Association, may apply for coroners' office license plates forany vehicle the person owns, either solely or jointly, other than anapportioned motor vehicle or a commercial motor vehicle licensed in excessof eighteen thousand pounds gross weight. The Missouri Coroners' andMedical Examiners' Association hereby authorizes the use of its officialemblem to be affixed on multiyear license plates as provided in thissection.

2. Upon annual application and payment of a twenty-five dollaremblem-use contribution to the Missouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners'Association, the Missouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners' Associationshall issue to a member, without further charge, an emblem-useauthorization statement which shall be presented by the member to thedepartment of revenue at the time of registration of a motor vehicle. Anycontribution to the Missouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners' Associationderived from this section, except reasonable administrative costs, shall beused for the purpose of promoting and supporting the objectives of theMissouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners' Association.

3. Upon presentation of the annual statement, payment of a fifteendollar fee in addition to the regular registration fees and presentation ofdocuments required by law, the department of revenue shall issue a licenseplate to the member, which shall bear the emblem of the Missouri Coroners'and Medical Examiners' Association, the six-point star which is theuniversally recognized symbol for law enforcement, and the words "CORONERS'OFFICE" in place of the words "SHOW-ME STATE". The director of revenueshall annually set aside personalized license plates bearing each member'sdesignated number to be issued to each member of the Missouri Coroners' andMedical Examiners' Association who meets all requirements established bythis section. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 301.144, noadditional fee shall be charged for the personalization of license platesissued pursuant to this section. The license plate authorized by thissection shall use a process to ensure that the emblem shall be displayedupon the license plate in the clearest and most attractive manner possible.Such license plates shall be made with fully reflective material with acommon color scheme and design and shall be aesthetically attractive, asprescribed by section 301.130.

4. License plates issued pursuant to this section shall be held bythe appropriate member of the Missouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners'Association only while such person remains a member in good standing of theMissouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners' Association. Within fifteen daysof the loss of member-in-good-standing status, the member shall surrenderthe license plates issued pursuant to this section to the director ofrevenue, who shall make them available to the succeeding member of theMissouri Coroners' and Medical Examiners' Association.
