Unclaimed property--liability of trustee.

456.041. 1. The payment or delivery of such unclaimed property tothe state treasurer by the trustee shall terminate any legal relationshipbetween the trustee and beneficiary or apparent beneficiary to receive suchproperty and shall release and discharge the trustee from any and allliability to such beneficiary, his heirs, personal representatives,successors and assigns by such payment or delivery, regardless of whethersuch property is in fact or in law unclaimed property.

2. Such payment or delivery may be pleaded as a bar to recovery andshall be a defense in any suit or action brought by the apparent owner, orhis heirs, personal representatives, successors or assigns, or any claimantagainst the trustee by reason of the delivery of payment.
