60-4,149. Commercialdrivers' licenses; examination; issuance; delivery.(1) Theexamination for commercial drivers' licenses by the department shall occurin and for each county of the State of Nebraska. Each county shall furnishoffice space for the administration of the examinations, except that two ormore counties may, with the permission of the director, establish a separatefacility to jointly conduct the examinations for such licenses.(2)Except as provided for by section 60-4,157, all commercial driver's licenseexaminations shall be conducted by department personnel designated by thedirector. Each successful applicant shall be issued a certificate entitlingthe applicant to secure a commercial driver's license. If department personnelrefuse to issue such certificate for cause, he or she shall state such causein writing and deliver the same to the applicant. Department personnel shallnot be required to hold a commercial driver's license to administer a drivingskills examination and occupy the seat beside an applicant for a commercialdriver's license.(3)(a) This subdivision applies until the implementationdate designated by the director pursuant to section 60-462.02. The successfulapplicant shall, within thirty days, present his or her certificate to thecounty treasurer who shall immediately issue the commercial driver's licenseand collect the fee. The county treasurer shall report the issuance of commercialdrivers' licenses and LPC-learners' permits to the department within fivedays after issuance.(b) This subdivision applies beginning onthe implementation date designated by the director pursuant to section 60-462.02.The successful applicant shall, within thirty days, present his or her issuancecertificate to the county treasurer who shall collect the fee and surchargeas provided in section 60-4,115 and issue a receipt with driving privilegeswhich is valid for up to thirty days. The commercial driver's license shallbe delivered to the applicant as provided in section 60-4,113.
