§1‑318.  Forthcoming bond for personal property.

If a sheriff or other officerwho has levied an execution or other process upon personal property permits itto remain with the  possessor, the officer may take a bond, attested by acredible witness, for the forthcoming thereof to answer the execution orprocess; but the officer remains, nevertheless, in all respects liable asheretofore to the plaintiff's claim.
