Nothing in this Article shall preclude a component of the State TrailsSystem from becoming a part of the National Trails System. The Secretary shallcoordinate the State Trails System with the National Trails System and isdirected to encourage and assist any federal studies for inclusion of NorthCarolina trails in the National Trails System. The Department may enter intowritten cooperative agreements for joint federal‑State administration ofa North Carolina component of the National Trails System, provided suchagreements for administration of land uses are not less restrictive than thoseset forth in this Article.
