As required by Article VIII ofthe compact, the Governor shall appoint as compact commissioner a licensedNorth Carolina attorney who represents at least one local board of education,with preference given to an attorney representing a local board of educationwith a high concentration of military children or an attorney familiar withmilitary issues. The compact commissioner shall be responsible for theadministration and management of the State's participation in the compact. (2008‑185, s. 1.)
