§ 115C‑521.1.  Buildingstandards for preschool students.

A public school thatvoluntarily applies for a child care facility license may use an existing ornewly constructed classroom in a public school for three‑ and four‑year‑oldpreschool students without modifications to the classroom or building if theclassroom:

(1)        Has at least onetoilet and one sink for hand washing;

(2)        Meets kindergartenstandards for overhead light fixtures;

(3)        Meets kindergartenstandards for floors, walls, and ceilings; and

(4)        Has floors, walls,and ceilings that are free from mold, mildew, and lead hazards.

A public school that voluntarilyapplies for a child care facility license shall meet all other requirements forchild care facility licensure.  (2009‑123, s. 1.)
