(a) The State Board ofEducation shall encourage schools to offer American Sign Language classes inhigh schools as a modern foreign language.
(b) The State Board ofEducation shall adopt and implement standards for the certification of teachersof American Sign Language and shall set standards for teacher preparationprograms that prepare students for certification as American Sign Languageteachers. (2007‑154,s. 1(a).)
