§ 116‑232.  Purposes.

The purposes of the Schoolshall be to foster the educational development of North Carolina high schoolstudents who are academically talented in the areas of science and mathematicsand show promise of exceptional development and global leadership throughparticipation in a residential educational setting emphasizing instruction inthe areas of science and mathematics; and to provide instruction, methods, andcurricula designed to improve teaching and learning in North Carolina and thenation with an emphasis on distance education and programs that expand pathwaysfor students into careers in science and mathematics.(1985, c. 757, s. 206(b);2006‑66, s. 9.11(l).)
