§120‑201.  Commission authority.

The Commission may obtaininformation and data from all State officers, agents, agencies, anddepartments, while in discharge of its duties, under G.S. 120‑19, as ifit were a committee of the General Assembly. The Commission also may callwitnesses, compel testimony relevant to any matter properly before theCommission, and subpoena records and documents, provided that any patientrecord shall have patient identifying information removed. The provisions ofG.S. 120‑19.1 through G.S. 120‑19.4 shall apply to the proceedingsof the Commission as if it were a joint committee of the General Assembly. Inaddition to the other signatures required for the issuance of a subpoena underthis section, the subpoena shall also be signed by the cochairs of theCommission. Any cost of providing information to the Commission not covered byG.S. 120‑19.3 may be reimbursed by the Commission from funds appropriatedto it for its continuing study. (1993 (Reg.
