§ 120‑259.  Purpose andpowers of the Committee.

(a)        The JointLegislative Oversight Committee on Capital Improvements shall examine, on acontinuing basis, capital improvements approved and undertaken for Statefacilities and institutions. As used in this section "capitalimprovements" includes repairs and renovations, and "State facilitiesand institutions" includes facilities and institutions of The Universityof North Carolina.

(b)        The Committee shallhave oversight over implementation of the six‑year capital improvementsplan developed pursuant to G.S. 143C‑8‑5.

(c)        The Committee,while in discharge of official duties, shall have access to any paper ordocument and may compel the attendance of any State official or employee beforethe Committee or secure any evidence under G.S. 120.19. In addition, G.S. 120‑19.1through G.S. 120‑19.4 shall apply to the proceedings of the Committee asif it were a joint committee of the General Assembly.

(d)        The Committee maymake interim reports to the General Assembly on matters for which it may reportto a regular session of the General Assembly. A report to the General Assemblymay contain any legislation needed to implement a recommendation of theCommittee. (2002‑126,s. 29.3; 2006‑203, s. 63.)
