The Commission shall have thefollowing additional powers:
(1) While in thedischarge of official duties, to have access to any paper or document, and tocompel the attendance of any State official or employee before the Commissionor secure any evidence under the provisions of G.S. 120‑19. In addition,the provisions of G.S. 120‑19.1 through G.S. 120‑19.4 shall applyto the proceedings of the Commission as if it were a joint committee of theGeneral Assembly.
(2) To apply for andreceive gifts and grants from private sources to assist the Commission infulfilling its duties, subject to the approval of the Legislative ServicesCommission. (1989 (Reg. Sess., 1990), c. 1066, s. 23.)
