§ 122C‑231.  Admissions.

Except as otherwise providedin this Part an incompetent adult may be admitted to a facility when theindividual is mentally ill or a substance abuser and in need of treatment. Theprovisions of G.S. 122C‑211 shall apply to admissions of an incompetentadult under this Part except that the legally responsible person shall act forthe individual, in applying for admission to a facility, in consenting tomedical treatment when consent is required, in giving or receiving any legalnotice, and in any other legal procedure under this Article.
